Addictions Counseling?
Question by Meggiex: Addictions counseling?
I want to become an addictions counselor, and I already asked what kind of degree I would need, but now I am wondering what colleges/ universities in the US are good to get that degree. At first I wanted to stay local because of my boyfriend, but he is a loser and now I will consider going all the way across the country! Any ideas? I live on the East Coast, but I will consider anywhere. Please let me know of any colleges/ universities with good Substance Abuse/Addictions counseling programs. Thank you!
Anyone have anything?

I would suggest looking at psychology programs – most flagship State Universities have good ones. If you go in-state you will save a boatload of money and get a good education as well.
CUNY showed up in my search. If you live in NY, great deal. If you are out of state, not as good. I worked for an addition interdiction program in NYC a while back. I’m sure the need is still there. If so, CUNY would make sense, if they teach exactly what you want.
Good luck.
