A Video of Compassion, Creating Lasting Family Connections
A video of compassion, creating lasting family connections – COPES (Council on Prevention Education: Substances, Inc.) is a private non-profit organization holding 501 C 3 IRS status since 1981. COPES is certified and licensed by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services to provide alcohol and other drug abuse prevention programs (License Number 840002). COPES’ mission is to develop and implement marriage and family enhancement, substance abuse, HIV and violence prevention programming and to build community partnerships to deliver this programming in the community. Currently we are focused on providing multiple programs to individuals (and their families) reentering from incarceration and/or in recovery from substance abuse. COPES operates three federal grants creating community coalitions to implement COPES’ nationally recognized (including SAMHSA’s NREPP: National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices), family enhancement program Creating Lasting Family Connections in Louisville, Kentucky. Funding agencies include the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) (Grant SP13365 – focused on minority substance abuse and HIV prevention) and the Office of Family Assistance (OFA) (Grant # 90FR0015 — Jefferson County Fatherhood Initiative and Grant # 90FE0007 — Jefferson County Healthy Marriage Initiative).
