Chat Room Addiction Problem? Need Help ASAP.?
Question by Rachel: Chat Room Addiction Problem? Need help ASAP.?
Ever since my friends suggested iSketch.net, I’ve been hooked to it. I just can’t stay away. My self esteem was very low at the time and I would spend hours in my room at a time, never getting any homework done.
Now, I am still hooked. The longest I’ve been was six months (about two years ago), but only because I forced myself to get banned. Whenever I try to stop playing, I have this need that tells me to get on my computer and talk.
Now, I am using MSN with my “online friends”. And no, I don’t give out any real information. No, I do not trust any of them.
The next site, which is more recent, is ClubMarian.com. It usually includes people of a younger age, so I tend to become friends on there easier.
I will not tell you my age, but I will range from 15-17.
Help. Please. Going outside and joining clubs just won’t work. I need help.
In the real life, the bonds with my friends are great.

It’s an addiction to talking to people, not the chat rooms themselves. You have to meet new people, or at least strengthen your bonds with your current friends. You don’t need to join clubs or anything like that. If you hate people like me, although you seem to not hate people, turn your computer off and get a hobby that you can do without “going outside”.
